With the drop in natural gas prices from about $10 per million cubic feet last year to below $4 this year, and the uncertain results of drilling into the Trenton-Black River formation running under the Southern Tier, Fortuna President James O'Driscoll said the Big Flats arm of Canadian gas giant Talisman Energy is ending its Trenton-Black River drilling program.

We have had great press in regards to the Southern Tier Marcellis Gas Formation. Guv Patterson would show some great wisdom if he could speed up the new drilling process here in New York State. We could have a great energy boom again! I grew up in the oil country around Scio and Wellsville, NY! If Obama was really interested in American oil independence, he would encourgage drilling here, the sooner the better!
